Pastor and Lady Thompson will be the first to tell you that House of Fire is not about them, but about God’s promise to His people found in Matthew 16:18…and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Thompson’s describe themselves as ordinary people who serve an EXTRAORDINARY GOD! They love God and they love His people and believe in the words spoken by the Savior Himself…Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. [Matthew 22: 37- 40] Loving God and loving people is one of the hallmarks of this growing church. The church’s motto is:  House of Fire is a church—not of walls—but of people!

Another distinguishing characteristic of the ministry is the Thompson’s passionate, tag-team teaching style, which truly speaks to their partnership in marriage and in ministry.  With a deep desire to strengthen marriage and families, the Thompson’s developed a unique ministry targeting marriage and family relationships called Marriage 101. 

Pastor and Mrs. Thompson consider it a blessing that they were both born into close-knit, working-class families that experienced ordinary struggles.  They believe their experiences growing up on the south side of Chicago help them to relate well to people from all walks of life. A product of  “the hood”, Pastor Thompson openly testifies that he identifies well with the treacherous life of the Apostle Paul prior to his conversion and often quotes 1 Timothy 1:15, This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.  However, he more proudly proclaims Romans 1:16…For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth… 

From the day that God saved him, Pastor Thompson remains firmly convinced that if God could save him, he can save anybody!  And this is the message he resolutely preaches…For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. [John 3:16-17]

In addition to devoting their energies to full-time ministry and full-time jobs, Pastor and Lady Thompson are very family-oriented people and devote as much time as possible supporting and speaking into the lives of their children, Darryl Christopher and Dylaan Christyn. As proud and committed parents of their two children, affectionately known as “Chris and Dy”, the Thompson’s stand on the promises of God in Isaiah 54: 13, And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children, and Acts 16:31, And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
