Co-Pastor Kimberly
Callaway-Thompson (cont.)
She has several nieces, nephews, a
great-nephew, a great-niece, and
several sons and daughters in the
Lord that have been affectionately
nick-named by her. Her maternal
great grandfather was a Baptist
pastor whose church in North
Chicago, Illinois recently
celebrated its 89th year. Her
paternal grandparents were devout
Catholics so her family continued in
that tradition and she converted
after marrying Pastor Thompson.
Co-Pastor Thompson serves faithfully
alongside her husband as a prayer
leader and prophetic intercessor,
teacher, and administrator. Writing
and teaching are her passions and
she is recognized in the body of
Christ for her transparent and fiery
teaching style. She openly shares
that having been raised in the
Catholic church, she had married an
elder in the Pentecostal church and
had no clue what to do or what her
role should be. Now she tells every
newborn babe in Christ and every
young minister’s wife, Faithful
is He that calleth you who also will
do it. [1 Thessalonians 5:24]
Realizing that God called her to
serve Him in marriage and ministry,
she began a ritual that continues to
this day of rising early on Saturday
mornings to spend time alone with
the Lord and to devour His Word. She
lives by Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4,
It is written, man shall not live
by bread alone but by every word
that proceeds out of the mouth of
God.
Co-Pastor Thompson works as a
program coordinator for a
state-funded human services agency
that provides technical assistance
to school districts, community and
faith-based organizations, and other
public entities. Her additional job
responsibilities include teaching
science-based prevention education
to middle school students in Rock
Island and Whiteside counties.
Co-Pastor has a long record of
leadership and service in the
community. She is a co-founder of
the West End Neighborhood
Association and has served as one of
the lead organizers of Celebrate
Longview, an annual event that draws
hundreds of people, including
residents, school personnel, faith
and community-based organizations.
She served three terms on the board
of directors of Community Caring
Conference and served as board
secretary for the Western Illinois
HIV/AIDS Care Consortium and is a
past member of the Henry County Drug
and Alcohol Task Force. She worked
closely with the Rock Island Police
Department to organize a bike
give-a-way and rodeo
for youth in Century Woods. She also
served as a tutor in an after school
program at Frances Willard. She has
served on several committees
associated with the Rock Island
School District advocating for
school improvement and academic
success. Currently, she serves on
the Board of Directors for the
Spring Forward Learning Center and
Pioneering Healthier Communities.
In addition to her responsibilities
at home, work, and church, Co-Pastor
Thompson recently earned a Master’s
degree in Public Administration from
Drake University in Iowa. In 2009,
she was inducted into the National
Honor Society for Public Affairs and
Administration. Most recently, she
worked closely with Pastor Thompson
to spearhead a faith-based
redevelopment project on 11th Street
now known as Embassy Square Mall.
Given her background in business and
public administration, she currently
volunteers as Managing Director of
Embassy Square LLC. Her dream is to
retire from working in 10 years,
write books, enjoy time with family,
and travel the
world learning about other cultures
and taking the Gospel to Third World
countries in the 10/40 window.
In her limited amount of free time,
Co-Pastor can be found spending time
with family, reading and writing,
and shopping! |
